backyard garden
Well... the big news of the weekend is the vegetable garden. We've gotten everything done except putting in some of the plants and the drip system (which Jack is studying on). Between Jack's strong back, my design abilities, and Lowrider's dedication to eat all the grub worms, it has been a very successful project! Of course we could barely move last night when we finally came in the house. (All three of us!!!) Above are before pictures. Jack had to take out three bushes that were mostly dead.
These are the after photos. We put newspaper down in the path areas to try to help with the weeds a little. The snowball bush looks like it survived the extreme pruning we put it through! Lowrider got a new little house that he loves.
Planted in the back, we now have ; onions, purple potatoes, garlic, radishes, carrots, okra, heirloom tomatoes, Brussels sprouts, eggplant, butternut squash, basil, rosemary, lavender and chives. I still plan to put out bell peppers, poblano peppers and soybeans. We are looking forward to good organic "eats" this summer!

Jack and Loeta, I am impressed. Way to go! The pablano peppers will taste great when you make "Albino stew". That recipe is a hit with my family even though it seems to taste a little different each time I make it. haha
I'm sure your hard work will pay off when it is time to harvest :-)
The garden looks amazing! I am so impressed. The patio looks great, too. I can't wait to come and see it all for myself.
Hey! Can I come over for a salad sometime this summer?? It sounds like my dream garden with all the heirloom plants.
My your harvest by plentiful and your chiropractor a good one........:)
